Sawyer Pedriana Bauman - Age 27

Newer to climbing, I have only been leading for the last two years. Growing up outside of Boulder Colorado, I have been around climbing for most of my life. My dad would take me out to top rope different routes in Boulder Canyon when I was very young but most of my youth I didn’t cimb except a little bouldering in High School. After visiting Joshua Tree years ago with my family, I slowly got more into bouldering and scrambling until I ended up moving out there in 2022. Then I really started to take climbing more seriously. I put a lot of time and research into technique, gear, and climbing as a whole following my move to California. Now I can confidently say rock climbing is a passion of mine. Much of what I know about climbing I have learned from my dad Matt, who is now my main climbing partner! Now we both spend much of our time putting up first ascents, bouldering and leading routes across the U.S. and abroad!

Matt Bauman - Age 53

As and avid climber in the late 90s and early 2000s, I have led hundreds, if not thousands, of routes around Colorado and the western United States. Living in the Boulder area during that time, I put up many of the early descriptions for climbs in Estes Park and around Eldorado Canyon in Mountain Project. I’ve climbed a majority of the classics in this region up to 2004. Unfortunately I suffered an ankle injury in 2004 and I stepped away from climbing for over 20 years to focus on raising a family and building a career. In 2021 I moved out to Palm Springs and started to spend time in Joshua Tree, initially bouldering but then in the winter of 2023 getting back into roped climbing. Since then, the passion of climbing has come back in full force and I am back to leading the long multipitch climbs that I had loved to climb years before!
